Have you heard about ……Futsal?
It’s fast-paced, fun, needs referees and most importantly – played indoors!
Futsal is the only form of indoor soccer endorsed by FIFA. It earned the status of FIFA’s official form of indoor soccer in the 1980s as it was recognized as a scaled down version of outdoor soccer played indoors. It is a 5 v 5 small-sided game played on a hard surfaced, basketball sized court with a smaller, heavier low bounce ball. Futsal is played with touchline boundaries and without walls.
Are you over age 16 and looking for a new referee challenge? Become a Futsal referee.
The surface, ball and rules create an emphasis on improvisation, creativity, and technique as well as ball control and passing in small spaces for players and help referees refine their foul recognition and game –management skills.
You can start the certification process now with the US Soccer FUTSAL referee course online module and then do the field session conveniently during one of the league sessions. You must be a current US Soccer Grade 8 referee to take this course.
